You Should Love It Because…
It is an engaging little book which will help your readers learn to identify and express emotions as well as introduce them to the alphabet. The bright colors contrast nicely with the black and white print and the photography captures the attention of children. There are also two versions of the book. The version I used for my lesson plan is appropriate for preschool and kindergarten aged children and is the featured link above. There is also a lift-the-flap version more appropriate for babies and toddlers and is linked below. My only critique of this book is that the rhythm scheme is off for a few of the letters, but I just make my own alterations when reading it aloud.
Classroom Connection
The lesson plan I’ve written for this book includes three extension activities: a photo booth activity, a game, and a DIY publishing center. It is easily modified for both a homeschool setting or a mainstream classroom (or many variations in between!). It is aligned with Common Core and when all activities are implemented it addresses seventeen different standards for Kindergarten! The six-page lesson plan can be found in my store!
