Last week I shared some books I’ve been reading to help me better understand, love, and parent my son. Today’s book is related to the same topic but written for him!
Fergal and the Bad Temper (originally published in the UK as Fergal is Fuming!) is a relatable story about a little dragon who does not like to be told what to do. When Fergal is told to do something he doesn’t want to do (i.e. clean up his toys and eat dinner) he gets riled up and uses his fire to destroy things. My kids get the biggest kick out of the sounds in the book.
Scrooof! Kawumfff!
By the end, Fergal has learned to control himself using various calm-down techniques and finds much more entertaining ways to use his fire.
I am trying to build my repertoire of books about emotional intelligence, especially related to anger and self-control. What are some of your favorites that I should check out?
p.s. I found this book at my local library. Reading quality literature does not have to come with a pricey investment!
